poetry
We must enclose poetry
And read it in dark corners
Because it’s crazy,
Some poets say,
We shouldn’t buy it clothes
Or dress it in fashion,
Its clothing is rags,
Some measure it in steps
Or sighs,
And with Pythagorean calculations
They treasure it as their poetry,
Perhaps they hear a tick-tock
Or a melody within it,
Some gag it
Some kidnap it,
Selfishness wants to possess
The purest feeling
And they traffic it in exchange for monuments,
Poetry should be read
Locked within four walls
Some poets say,
But those of us who are not poets know,
That it’s not crazy,
That it screams its truth between sighs
That it possesses your colors
And your dresses
That it loves freedom
It can perch
On the rose
As on the dry branch
It can dance in numbers
And activate the tick-tock of your clock
Poetry is freedom
Because it’s you.
